PIC MicroController was originally referred to as Peripheral Interface Controller, which was first developed in 1976. PIC Family of Micro controllers is of modified architecture in Embedded Systems. In the early models PIC Micro Controller had only “read-only memory” (ROM) or field-programmable EPROM. All the current models of PIC MicroControllers use Flash memory for program storage. Program memory and Data memory are separated. Data memory is 8-bit, 16-bits and 32-bits in latest models. Industrial developers and hobbyists popularly use PIC Microcontroller devices for development of embedded system since they are of low cost and wide availability with application tools.
